S02E19 "Genyasis": A little Enya, a lot Genesis 'We Can't Dance'
Wednesday Dec 18, 2019
Wednesday Dec 18, 2019
While we know our own rules - we listen to and talk about every number one album of the 90s so long as it's not a compilation - we just simply could not find enough to say about Enya's 'Shepherd Moons' album and so we give it the most cursory of five minute conversations before moving onto the next on our list which is 'We Can't Dance' by Genesis. For obvious reasons, namely that we weren't 40 year old men at the time, neither of knew this album from when it was released. But, being 40-ish year old men now, can we finally appreciate Phil, Mike and Tony?
We get the chance to talk about other stuff like U2, Altern-8 and Sonata Arctica this week and you get to hear Krister's lovingly prepared Enya Megamix. Lucky you.The companion Spotify playlist is available to listen to as always and check out the website, facebook page and twitter if you haven't already.

S02E18 Erasure 'Chorus'
Wednesday Dec 11, 2019
Wednesday Dec 11, 2019
Continuing in the 'pop' vein for a minute, this week we're listening to Erasure's album 'Chorus' which came out in October of 1991. Neither of us were familiar with this one at all so it was very new and fresh all round. But did we enjoy it? Is it all as good as the classics we knew like 'A Little Respect' and 'Stop'? We shall have to see.
And this week we get the chance to chat about other stuff like Teenage Fanclub, Slayer and Carcass so there's definitely some guitar music mixed in for good measure.
As always, listen along to our companion playlist with the full album and all the other tracks we discuss on the episode and check out www.pclpodcast.com for links to all of our social media etc. Get in touch with any comments or feedback and please keep spreading the word and telling your friends about our show!

S02E17 Simply Red 'Stars'
Wednesday Dec 04, 2019
Wednesday Dec 04, 2019
Or lordy, it's only Hucknall and co. Leading up to this episode we were pretty sure we were going to hate this album as it was the antithesis of everything we liked in 1991, so what do we reckon on giving it a go in 2019? Listen on to find out.
We do get to chat about some other stuff as well though, like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Public Enemy and 2 Unlimited. It's quite the mixture this week.
Listen along to the companion Spotify playlist with all of the main album and most of the other tracks we chat about on there and check out www.pclpodcast.com for all the social media links etc.

S02E16 Nirvana 'Nevermind' Bonus Episode
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
Wednesday Nov 27, 2019
We KNOW! Stop shouting at us - yes it's another bonus episode on an album that wasn't actually ever number one, but how could we NOT? This album meant an awful lot to both Dave and Krister on their musical journeys and so they revisit it to talk about how important it is but also to see if it stands up as a full album nearly 30 years later. It's not too much of a spoiler to say that they're both very pleased with this re-listen.
And since it's a bonus episode there isn't a playlist this week for, just go and listen to your copy of Nevermind along with us. You know you've got one. Oh, and turn it up fucking loud.

S02E15 Bryan Adams 'Waking Up The Neighbours'
Tuesday Nov 19, 2019
Tuesday Nov 19, 2019
The most Canadian thing to happen to our podcast to date, this episode is all about Bryan Adams' 1991 megahit 'Waking Up The Neighbours' which does indeed feature THAT song. Does the rest of the record stand up against such a world-beating single? Would you want it to?
We should probably point out that we do make a few jokes in this one at the expense of Canadians but we don't mean it. We love you really. Please don't write us any angry letters.
Listen along to all the songs we talk about on our Spotify playlist and check out www.pclpodcast.com for links to all of our social media etc etc.

S02E14b Guns & Roses 'Use Your Illusion I' - bonus episode
Friday Nov 15, 2019
Friday Nov 15, 2019
Bonus episode time! We know that this album wasn't actually a UK number one but its companion record was and because we did a full show on that one, we thought we'd do a quick bonus on this as well. So if you like Guns & Roses you're in for a treat. Or if you just like hearing Dave be really happy about listening to Guns & Roses. Or if you like Krister being quite nonplussed by the whole thing.
No companion playlist this time as we're only talking about the album itself, no extra bits. Enjoy!

S02E14a Guns & Roses 'Use Your Illusion II'
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
Tuesday Nov 12, 2019
Dave's been looking forward to this one for weeks - G'n'R are one of his favourite bands of all time and he played this album over and over in his youth so he's got LOTS to say about it. Krister had never heard it before now and only really knows the big tunes off 'Appetite For Destruction' so he was pretty nervous going into this one. Will it be as good as Dave remembers? Will it be as bad as Krister fears?
Amidst all the discussion of why Axl Rose is such a dickhead sometimes we manage to fit in chat about Soundgarden, Rozalla and Prince as well.
Companion playlist for this one available here and all other stuff at our website www.pclpodcast.com. Enjoy! And look out for our extra bonus podcast where we discuss 'Use Your Illusion I' even though it wasn't actually a number one album. Dave insisted on it.

S02E13 Dire Straits 'On Every Street'
Tuesday Nov 05, 2019
Tuesday Nov 05, 2019
After the all-conquering monolith that was 'Brothers In Arms', Dire Straits returned in 1991 with the long-awaited follow-up 'On Every Street'. So is it as good? Did it spawn another groundbreaking cartoon video of removal men carrying fridges? The answer to at least one of those questions is "no".
But while talking about it we do get the chance to chat about other things such as Marky Mark & the Funky Bunch, Mr Bungle's first album and finding out that NIN's 'Pretty Hate Machine' came out two years before Dave thought it did. Mind BLOWN.
The playlist with everything that we talk about this week on it can be found here and you can always head to www.pclpodcast.com for all the links to everything else and a bunch of stupid photos.
